What is the Assessio Matrigma test?
Matrigma is Assessio's general mental ability assessment. It uses non-verbal matrix problems to measure how effectively a candidate detects patterns, reasons abstractly, learns rules and applies them to unfamiliar problems.

Generic IQ tests can cover a wider mix of memory, language, numerical and spatial tasks. Matrigma instead asks you to infer visual rules and complete matrices. That narrower definition should control both the diagnostic and the practice plan.

How does Adaptive Matrigma work?
Adaptive Matrigma changes item difficulty in response to performance. A correct answer can lead to a more difficult item and an incorrect answer can lead to an easier one, allowing the assessment to estimate a candidate's level within a short test.
Assessio currently describes Adaptive Matrigma as a 12-minute test and its help material states a one-minute limit for each presented question. Difficulty is expected in an adaptive route, and you cannot read your score from how hard the grids feel, in either direction.
Launch practice uses mixed-difficulty, adaptive-style sets to teach the pacing and changing challenge. It is not presented as a calibrated computer-adaptive replica of Assessio's engine.

How does the classic Matrigma test work?
Assessio's candidate guidance also describes a 40-minute version with progressively more difficult matrix tasks. Unlike the adaptive route, the classic test requires you to allocate time across a longer sequence instead of receiving a short, individually selected path.
Build reliable rule detection before attempting a full rehearsal. During timed classic practice, protect enough time for later questions while avoiding repeated guesses at one item that has stopped producing new evidence.

What matrix reasoning questions does Matrigma use?
A Matrigma item presents a visual matrix with one figure missing. In the adaptive format, Assessio describes eight images that establish the pattern and six answer options for the ninth position. Your task is to find the option that preserves every relevant rule.
- Count and distribution of shapes
- Rotation, movement and position
- Changes in size, shading, outline or orientation
- Addition, subtraction, overlap or combination of elements
- Two or more rules operating across rows and columns
Describe one property at a time before testing the answer options. A choice that fits one row but breaks a column rule is not a complete solution.
Norm-based interpretation
What does a Matrigma score mean?
Assessio reports Matrigma on a 0 to 10 C-scale. Its current product documentation gives the scale a mean of 5 and a standard deviation of 2, with low, average and high bands interpreted relative to a norm group.
The score is one part of a selection process, not a universal pass or fail mark. Employers can set different expectations for roles with different complexity and combine Matrigma with personality, experience, interviews or work samples. Cognivy therefore reports learning evidence, not a hiring prediction.
